Artist: Brad Spalding
Site Number: 85
Materials: Timber, Metal, Acrylic
Artist Statement: Caravans are symbols of movement, holidays and impermanence. Here, that mobility is paused. Fur softens the object’s hard geometry, blurring the line between interior and exterior - shelter and skin. Light spills from the windows and beneath the form, suggesting quiet occupation without revealing who, or what, might be inside.
Any additional info/descriptions: Artist Bio: Brad Spalding is an Australian artist and sculptor whose practice is grounded in the alpine landscapes and cultural histories of the Snowy Mountains. A graduate of Bendigo Art School, he works across sculpture, painting and mixed media, often incorporating steel, stone, found materials and light. His iconic sou’westerly figures draw on his experience as Head of the Snow Sports School at Thredbo, blending humour and memory with mountain life. Spalding is a two-time winner of the Lake Light Sculpture Award and co-founder of Wildbrumby Distillery, where his work is permanently exhibited. Dimensions: 2500 x 1500 x 2500 Additional display/install info: Not applicable Legacy Zone: K
